Opposite Silver Sands's reception, is New Heaven Bakery.

Serving a wide range of western favourites - fresh coffee & croissants, home baked pastries, all-day breakfast, and a selection of fresh baked breads and delicious sandwiches, New Heaven is open throughout the day.

Go Scuba Diving on Koh Tao!
Koh Tao is world famous as a scuba diving destination.

With many shallow coral reefs, isolated pinnacles and even deep ship wrecks, Koh Tao is a great place to dive. And that's without mentioning the amazing marine life - reef fish, moray eels, sting rays, even sharks - you can see it all around Koh Tao.

We have our own PADI Dive Centre at Silver Sands Resort. 'DJL Diving' provides a range of diving services, so, whether you want to learn to scuba dive, or are already certified, we'll provide you with the best possible diving experiences.

Relax by the pool or in the Trade Winds bar/restaurant
All guests are welcome to come and use the pool behind the dive shop, there are frequent BBQ's and promotions on in the bar.
Round Koh Tao Snorkeling Tours
You can book round the island snorkeling tours in Silver Sands Reception. These depart every morning, visiting all the best snorkeling sites around Koh Tao - Japanese Gardens @ Koh Nangyuan, Mango Bay, Aow Leuk, Shark Bay . . .

Including lunch & all snorkeling equipment, the cost is just 600 baht per day.
Otherwise you can charter a private longtail taxi boat at Silver Sands, and conduct your own snorkeling tour around Koh Tao.


ADSL Internet

To help you keep in touch [or upload your holiday snaps], with have an ADSL internet service in Silver Sands reception.

Plus there are several wi-fi providers if you're traveling with your own laptop.


Motorbike Rental

If you want to get out and explore the rest of Koh Tao island, Silver Sands have motorbikes available for daily, weekly and monthly rent.

These range from fully automatic scooters to manual shift dirt bikes for the more adventurous!

For your convinience, there's a small shop in Silver Sands reception, selling all your daily essentials.

How to Get to Koh Tao, Thailand
Most people enter Thailand by flying into Bangkok. From Bangkok there are three main options for getting down to Koh Tao island.


• The fastest but most expensive route: Fly to Samui.

You can pickup flights from Bangkok direct down to Koh Samui for just a few thousand baht. From Samui take one of the high speed ferries across to Koh Tao island (Lomprayah Catamaran or Seatran) - these cost about 550 baht per person and take about an hour and a half.

If you shop around you may even be able to get a flight direct from your country of origin to Samui, cutting out the Bangkok bit.



• The compromise : Train to Chumphon

Thailand has a great rail service. From the airport you need to get a meter taxi to the main Hualamphong train station in town (costing about 200 baht). From there you can catch a very comfortable overnight train down to Chumphon. You can get a bed in an air conditioned cabin for under 1000 baht, waking up fresh at your destination in the morning! From Chumphon you take a high speed ferry to Koh Tao island the same mornining. This will take about an hour and a half and costing about 500 baht.

• The budget route : Bus from Bangkok

Even this isn't too bad. From the airport get a meter taxi to Khao San Road (about 200 baht). At Khao San Road you can book a combined bus and boat ticket direct to Koh Tao. This will be an overnight bus ride to Chumphon, then boat the rest of the way and should cost less than 1000 baht all in.

Look out - there are a few 'sharks' around the Khao San area, out for the naïve tourist. My advice would be to go into one of the official looking travel agents and book with your ticket with them. Go for the Lomprayah or Seatran services, you should be able to book one of these in most agents. These are fast, comfortable services and usually show DVDs on the way down. You don't want to end up getting crammed on a mini bus or 'local' service.



• Pickup from Pier in Koh Tao
As part of your online reservation with Silver Sands, we include a taxi pickup service from the pier in Koh Tao.

Just let us know which ferry you'll be arriving on [at what time], and we'll make sure there's someone waiting on the pier to meet you and bring you down to the resort. Easy!
